                        DOROTHY
                 (tightly to AUNTIE MAMA)
        No, ma'am.

                      AUNTIE MAMA
I certainly do not appreciate your
        tone of voice, Miss Sassypants.

                        DOROTHY
        I'm sorry, Auntie Mama.

                      AUNTIE MAMA
That's more like it.  Because I was
just about ready to ask Ruby to stop
this car and wear-out your little
backside, but good.  You'd have to
        sit standing up.
                 (waves the magazine
                  in DOROTHY's face)
This is trash.  Child, you need to
stop daydreaming that one day you are
going to be some big and glamorous
movie star like Greta Garbo.  Because
I got news for you: That day will
never dawn.  Hear me when I tell you.

                         RUBY
                 (to DOROTHY,over
                  her shoulder)
Now you listen carefully to Auntie
Mama, Dorothy Jean, and let what
she's saying sink into your brain.
