The Wonder Kids! pgs. 20-25

A DEACON has joined the conversation between RUBY, AUNTIE MAMA, and PASTOR MILLER.  He is holding forth, reciting a familiar adage:

                        DEACON
…It takes six men to carry a man to
his grave and one woman to put him
       there.

                        RUBY
       Six men…and one woman, eh?

                    PASTOR MILLER
Our funeral home motto is: "You
marry him and we'll bury him."

                       DEACON
       —Yeah, it's a two-for-one special!

PASTOR MILLER and the DEACON laugh.  AUNTIE MAMA raises her eyebrows in a humorous smile to RUBY.

                      AUNTIE MAMA
                (pointedly)
And they call us the weaker sex.

                         RUBY
       Amen!

CYRIL finally reaches DOROTHY and VIVIAN in the line.

                        DOROTHY
                 (brightly)
Hi, Mister, would you like a
photo?  That will be 10 cents.

CYRIL stands there, gazing at the two girls as if hardly believing his eyes.  His face overflows with emotion.

DOROTHY and VIVIAN look at him, waiting for him to speak.  A long moment passes.  The girls grow uncomfortable.
