RUBY looks on in amusement at the sparks flying between AUNTIE MAMA and PASTOR MILLER.  He is a goner.   

Meanwhile, across the cafeteria, DOROTHY and VIVIAN are doing bang-up business at the PHOTO table.  A TIMID GIRL steps forward to DOROTHY.  She is poorly dressed but freshly scrubbed.

                       DOROTHY
                  (brightly)
         Hi, would you like a photo?

The TIMID GIRL nods eagerly, a hopeful smile on her face.

                      DOROTHY
         That will be 10 cents.

The TIMID GIRL stares down at her dusty, scuffed shoes.  She is crushed. 

DOROTHY considers. 

                       DOROTHY
       Tell you what…Just because you've 
       got such a pretty smile, I'm going 
       to give it to you for free.  Let's       
       call it a Juneteenth present.  Okay?

She hands the photo to the TIMID GIRL, who takes it with both hands and gazes at it reverently.  She looks at DOROTHY with shining eyes as if wordlessly communicating that she will treasure the photo until her dying day.
