Members of the CONGREGATION spring to their feet in ENTHUSIASTIC APPLAUSE.  PASTOR MILLER, DEACONS, and the GOSPEL CHOIR are on their feet APPLAUDING.

RUBY and AUNTIE MAMA exchange winning smiles across the church hall.  The girls wowed the crowd!

CYRIL applauds until his hands hurt.  Then he observes the smiling interaction between RUBY and AUNTIE MAMA.  His eyes narrow, and the anger builds within him.

DOROTHY and VIVIAN, glowing, join hands and daintily bow as a tremendous wave of APPLAUSE baptizes them.

INT. BAPTIST CHURCH—CAFETERIA. DAY.

Refreshments are being served in the small church’s cafeteria.  Illustrated pictures of inspiring passages from the Bible adorn the walls.  A JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION banner hangs in the center of the room. 

TODDLERS play with wooden blocks and biblical coloring books on the floor.  PARENTS eat at covered card tables.

DOROTHY and VIVIAN are at a table selling WONDER KIDS PHOTOS to a long line of awe-struck children and adults.

RUBY and AUNTIE MAMA stand across the room, sipping from tall glasses of lemonade and chatting with PASTOR MILLER.  Their conversation is pleasantly charming and witty with a hint of harmless flirtation.
