INT. HOWARD THEATRE—STAGE LEFT WINGS. DAY.

DUKE ELLINGTON Take the “A” Train. PLAY and continue reading.

SOUND of “Take the ‘A’ Train” PLAYING in the theatre.  A bevy of gorgeous CHORUS GIRLS quickly assembles in a long line at the stage entrance.  The hip-hugging, gold-sequined, majorette costumes they are wearing display their shapely legs to maximum advantage. 

LOLA, racing towards the stage entrance and adjusting her majorette costume on the fly, is the last to arrive.  She takes her place in front of the line.

INT. HOWARD THEATRE—STAGE. DAY.

The swinging ORCHESTRA returns to the opening bars of “Take the ‘A’ Train.”  And LOLA leads the baton twirling CHORUS LINE snaking onto the stage like a curvaceous “choo-choo” train of statuesque Amazons to WILD APPLAUSE and CHEERS.

INT. HOWARD THEATRE—ATTIC DRESSING ROOM—CLOSE SHOT OF. DAY.

A filthy frosted window.  CAMERA SWINGS to reveal THE DANDRIDGE SISTERS in varying stages of undress in the tiny attic dressing room.  They shiver and make cold noises as they hurriedly remove their stage costumes and put on fashionable street clothes.
