…where they are immediately surrounded by a crowd of PERFORMERS.  The THUNDEROUS APPLAUSE continues unabated in the background.

                      PERFORMERS
       Great show, kids!  You fractured 'em!  
       They're still going bananas out there!
       You had 'em gigging in the aisles!  
       Don't hog the applause, girls!  Yeah,
       save some for the riffraff!

THE DANDRIDGE SISTERS are overwhelmed by the outpouring of affection.  They feel accepted.  They are now full-fledged members of Black vaudeville.

                         MOMS
       You girls sure enough laid a hurtin' 
       on 'em!  You had 'em gigging in the 
       aisles!  You got those booties jumpin'!

THE DANDRIDGE SISTERS and PERFORMERS crack up in laughter.  ETTA, listening to the APPLAUSE in the Theatre, speaks aside to DOROTHY and VIVIAN.
