VIVIAN and ETTA pull worried looks at DOROTHY.  They fear that she is seriously overdoing it with her come-on stunt.

The FOUR CLASSMATES gaze up at DOROTHY as she SINGS fetchingly down to them.  They are goggled-eyed, their jaws dropped, their minds totally blown.  They whistle, hoot, and slap five all around before breaking into a spontaneous jig of celebration.

JIMMIE DE LAVALLADE, the handsome, elegant, nationally renowned bandleader, and JOE GLASER, the prominent booking agent, stand at the back of the theatre chewing the fat. 

JIMMIE turns away from JOE to graciously sign autographs for a gaggle of adoring TEENAGED GIRLS.
